The list of what the house is asking for

Every home keeps a sheet like this one, tacked to the kitchen wall or carried around in the head of whoever lives there: the tap that started to drip, the door that scrapes, the shelf that never went up. This page is my own version of that sheet. My name is Josimar Pinto Pereira, I am a sole proprietor registered in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and I do general upkeep and small repairs. What is written below is the kind of job I take on.

In the kitchen

A tap that drips, or one that has become too stiff to shut: new cartridge, new washer, or the whole fitting replaced.

The sink trap leaking into the cabinet underneath.

A cupboard hinge out of line, a door knocking against the next one, a handle loose or missing.

An inside shelf that sagged under the weight of the pans.

Old silicone along the sink joint and darkened grout on the counter.

In the bathroom

An electric shower head that stopped heating: new heating element or new unit, on the outlet that is already in the wall.

A toilet that keeps running, or that only flushes on the second try.

A shower enclosure with the silicone peeling and the track jamming the door.

Toilet seat, soap dish, towel rail and grab bar fixed with the right anchor for the wall.

A drain that smells: trap cleaned, grate replaced.

In the living room, the bedrooms and the hall

A door that scrapes the floor, does not meet the frame, or has a lock that seized up.

Picture, mirror, curtain rod and television bracket hung without drilling where you should not.

A bulb, a switch or a socket swapped on a point that is already wired.

Loose skirting board, a corner trim that fell, a floorboard that creaks in one spot.

Paint touched up where the wall was drilled, scratched or patched.

In the laundry area and outside

Ceiling drying rack, wall drying rack, a shelf above the washing machine.

Garden tap, hose and a shut-off valve that leaks.

A gate dragging on the ground, a dry hinge, a latch out of alignment.

A gutter full of leaves and a roof tile out of place, as long as a ladder reaches it.

Flat-pack furniture to assemble, or to take apart before a move.

What is left to licensed trades

Some work does not belong on this sheet, and it is better written down here than discovered at the door. Larger electrical jobs, such as replacing the breaker panel, running a new circuit or touching the service entrance, belong to a licensed electrician. Anything involving gas, from the cylinder to the piping, belongs to a company certified for it. Load-bearing walls, beams, slabs and foundations are an engineer's business.

When a request lands in one of those three drawers, I say right away that I do not do it and, if I know someone, I point you to them. A clear no on the phone costs less than the wrong repair inside your home.

How to reach me

Call or message +55 (31) 9825-6682, or write to contato@jomasicase.com. Describe the problem in your own words; a photo of the spot helps me know what to bring on the first visit. Day, time and price are settled in that conversation, once the job is understood.

This page carries no form, and nothing is recorded when you open it. What exists here is the phone number, the e-mail address and the list. I am based in Minaslândia, a neighborhood in the northern part of Belo Horizonte, and the hands-on work stays in that city.

Also hanging on this nail

Besides the repair work, the same registered business keeps a small reading corner in English on this domain, called Three Repairs and a Receipt: three house calls written up for the man who lives in the house, and one page that explains who writes them.

Two things are said plainly there and repeated here. First, the business is enrolled as a referrer with online stores based in the United States, and it earns a fee when a reader follows one of its links and buys something; the text on this domain does not sell anything itself. Second, a filmed talk about one such item may be added to the domain later, on its own page, and it will carry the same name and the same registration data shown at the bottom of this sheet.
